Can't say that I liked this City as much
It is a City of a population of 1,350,000 or such.
The train station itself sees a million people a year
It has levels, stairs and moving walks everywhere.
The arches are high, the pillar grand
Outside you can see how majestic it stands.
Lots of skyscrapers among the ancient bricks.
I walked the streets, they were full of trams
Cars and trucks in traffic were crammed.
I took a walk in search of the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuel
Designed in 1865 by Giuseppe Mengoni who had a tragic fall.
The galleria is lined with restaurants and designer stores
Believe me, in this place, you can never get bored.
I took Rick Steve's advice and found the bull on the mosaic floor,
Tradition says, stand on the bull's balls and twirl once more.
Out into the Duomo Plaza, it suddenly appears,
Pigeons and people emerge from everywhere.
This cathedral is one of the largest Gothic churches in the world,
With 135 piercing towers of saints and gargoyles.
The enormous pillars hold up the ceiling structure inside
With stained glass windows that are incredibly high.
Lots of dead bodies of cardinals contained in glass cases,
Their shriveled hands are shown, but covered are their faces.
This City has an underground subway system as well
With designer shops beneath the streets for clothes to sale.
I spent 20 euros to ride a City Sightseeing bus,
If you get to Milano, this is a must.
In the other cities, I walked and found my way around,
Milano is so large, that sites are all over town.
We went to the Castell Sforzensco built by the Visconti family,
It was unlike any castle that I have yet to see.
It is undergoing a major renovation,
But the entire castle is used for museums and restorations.
Drive past the "Central Park"
An arena appears, a Napoleon landmark.
Corso Venezia is a mile long street,
Where you can walk and shop 'til you're beat.
A treat for myself was a trip to Pinoteca di Brera
With Modigliani, Picasso, Raphael and Cara.
A nice change of pace to see some modern art,
Even got to interact with some parts.
Milan is definitely a different Italian city
But worth a trip for a few days to see.
Wow! Great pictures, Vikki! I look forward to your next posts.
