Most things are closed on Sundays
So I decide to wander to the other side.
The next town over is Anacapri
Even smaller than Capri.
I take the bus for 1.20 euro
Arrive in the small square of Vittorio.
I follow the signs to the Ancient City
I walk straight to the Rosa House where a Civil War vet,
Married a local and collected all the art he could get.
A few blocks away is the small chapel, St. Michaels
From the 15th century all the floors are in tile.
Climb the circular staircase to the balcony you go
To view the full tile floor of the chapel below.
Church bells are ringing, the locals are in the plaza
The choir is singing Italian songs, I think it is mass,
I quickly leave when I see the coffin pass.
This entire island is of tile and art
From street signs to benches in the park.
I notice the sign to the Grotto Azure
Decide to walk the road to the shore.
It took many detours to the port
One was the path of the ancient forts.
An ancient path that joined three lookout posts
Where many wars were fought on this coast.
Signs in ceramic described the fauna and history
As well as the sea creatures, birds and other mysteries.
The walk was steep and a narrow wall
Straight down the cliffs to the water I could fall.
Two hours later I make it to the bottom
I am alone and wonder how I'll get back
When a bus load of Japanese arrive with all their packs.
The restaurant and bar are closed, all boarded up,
But I can still take photos of the sea to fill my cup.
The bus ride was only 1.2 euro, well worth it,
So now I can get back up and sit.
Lucia again recommended another restaurant, Arcate, to eat
So far, she has been correct a great contact to meet.
I order eggplant parmeseana
It was a bit different than American.
The owners are brothers and they give me a number
Of a woman who owns the spa in the Capri Palace.
I may give her a call and see if she needs help this season,
This would be a nice place to stay for a good reason.
There is a ski lift in the plaza that takes you to the mountain top,
I might as well do it and not stop.
So many Japanese are happy and waving
The view is incredible, worth saving.
This was an ancient Greek temple point
To be allowed here, you had to be anointed.
You can see the entire island from different directions
It is cold, windy but quite a sensation.
Down the mountain to catch the bus to Capri
I meet a couple that is so sweet,
From India, I have met them at two restaurants to eat.
Back to the hotel I go, I need a massage, my shoulder is killing me.
I arrive to the hotel and ask Lucia if she knows
Anyone that can give a massage, for my pain grows.
In thirty minutes flat she has me an appointment set
Of a young woman in town that I a deep tissue I will get.
I wander the alleys looking for the sign
Find Monica just in time.
She and her brother are physical therapists in Capri
To become a massage therapist in Italy you must attend three years at the university.
Then another two in a specialty.
She has been the best I have ever had in years of forty.
I will go see her again before I leave
To help with the shoulder pain relieve.
