16. Day on Venitian Islands.

Today, my camera batteries are dead
And, this has to be the most beautiful day instead.
I rode the ferry thru the Grand Canal on the barge
And stopped at every church, they are so large.
Went to get my train ticket at Ferrovia
For the two hour trip to Verona.
Took the ferry to Murano to see the glass artist
But,  I must admit that Jeremie’s the smartest.
As well as my daughter’s jewelry designs,
I would buy theirs everytime.
One of the highlight of the day,
Is a little man playing the accordion by the bay.
He accepts coins with a smile,
And, sings his Italian songs all the while.
Everyone is so relaxed in St. Donato’s square,
And, rarely people walking fast going everywhere.
I boarded the ferry to Burano to see the lace,
Magnificent work, every stitch in its place.
While waiting for the ferry, I ordered a variety dish
Of fried calamari, shrimp and fish.
Who should appear, but the gals from the hotel in Lido,
What are the odds of that, running into them -O Mio Dio!
I sit outside on the back of the ferry
And, enjoy the salt air, and feel quite weary.
Take the quick route pack to the island,
Go to the store and buy cheese and ham.
Meet the gals for a quick nightcap
Take them to my leopard room for a quick laugh.
Now to pack for another trip in the morn,
Got  to say Arrivederci to this place foreign.
